Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer video or phone sessions?

Yes! I am happy to offer video sessions for clients living anywhere in Utah. Video sessions will be conducted using the Zoom platform. You will need access to a camera, microphone, and relatively good internet connection. Initial 15 minute consultations are conducted via phone to discuss treatment needs and decide if we are a good fit. Phone sessions after that will be on case-by-case basis.

Do you take insurance?

I am in network with Aetna, Cigna, and United Healthcare currently. If you have other insurance providers, your plan may reimburse you a portion of your financial investment if you have out-of-network coverage. I will provide you information you might need to submit for reimbursement if you would like. Insurance companies often require therapists to submit a diagnosis and provide documentation regarding your treatment. Your privacy is important and self-pay allows treatment to stay between you and your therapist.

What can I expect during the first session?

Starting therapy can bring up a lot of emotion, especially the first session. This session is an opportunity for me to meet you and provide a comprehensive assessment which will include reviewing your personal history, present concerns, and what you would like to get out of the therapeutic process. together we will address concerns or questions you have about starting therapy, and identify goals for treatment. If we agree to continue working together after this session, therapy will begin. If, for any reason, we don’t believe working together is the best fit, I will provide you with specific referrals based on the comprehensive assessment.

How long will I be in therapy?

As long as necessary! There are many interventions focused on “short-term” therapy, but I believe that the length of time spent in treatment depends on unique needs and goals you create during the process. Oftentimes, meaningful therapeutic work can take time, and we can decide together how long is most beneficial to you.

How long is an appointment?

Typical appointments will be 50 minutes long. Appointments will typically be at the same day and time each week.
